Since turning 30, I've taken the Marie Kondo approach to my wardrobe—only quality pieces that I love and nothing I don't.
It sounds irrational, holding onto things I don't wear, but somehow, I always managed to fill my closet with crap I never wore, or would someday wear, or might fit into, or that one top that would be perfect, for that one time, I might, or might not, go to Coachella...or Burning Man...or what have you.
For the record, I've been to neither Burning Man nor Coachella, but I have managed to significantly de-crap my closet. Amidst this journey, I've found the ultimate clothing brand I hope to one day curate my entire closet around, Sézane. Sézane is a French label with incredible attention to detail, quality and fit. And, it's French, so there's really not much more to say...but, I will try.
STYLE:
If you love Reformation, then you will love Sézane's slightly more polished and sophisticated aesthetic. The collection is French farmhouse chic—Western-style boots and blouses, light and airy floral dresses, chunky knit sweaters, classic denim—every piece is super versatile and classic. The brand launches four seasonal collections per year and one smaller, highly curated capsule each month. (Images via @sezane)
PRICING:
Similar to Everlane, Sézane started solely online, but now has locations in NYC, Paris and London. Price-wise, everything is over $100. However, they offer free returns and free shipping on orders over $200. Estimated pricing - tops $125, denim $125, dresses $170-200, denim $125, sweaters $120-$150. In short, it's not cheap, but if you're curating a closet filled with quality pieces that stand the test of time, then Sézane is definitely worth the splurge, or at the very least, a try.
SALE:
Over the holiday, I shopped Sézane's "Archives" sale, a collection of past styles discounted up to 40% off. The online shopping experience is pretty good, the sale was organized by size, so I you only shop what's applicable to you. My one major issue, while the photography is beautiful, a lot of clothing details are extremely difficult to see, even basic front and back product shots. So, ordering can feel like Russian roulette. I ordered the Rob Jumper in Off White ($85) and the Ann Shirt, a button-down silk blouse in Black & Nude Polka-Dot ($85). The shipment arrived impressively fast, with an adorable personalized sticker on the front, and the items were exactly as pictured. (Images via @sézane)
ECO-FRIENDLY DENIM:
nSunday, January 12th, they launched their new eco-friendly collection, (R)evolution, an assortment of denim, western blouses, tees and utility-style jackets. A few styles sold out in one day. The lookbook is stunning (see below), I literally want every single item in the collection.
The brand also carries, shoes and bags that are on the pricier side. So, check it out, it's def worth a try!
