I used Dieux Skin for 8 months, these are my thoughts

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

I discovered Dieux in 2020 via its founder Charlotte Palermino, my go-to for all things skincare, acne, SPF, and products that are (and are not) worth the hype. She created Dieux Skin with Joyce De Lemos, a clinical cosmetic chemist who previously formulated for brands like SkinCeuticals and Science of Beauty.

I've repurchased Dieux's Instant Angel Skin Restoring Moisturizer and Deliverance Soothing Trinity Serum four times. My primary skin concerns being hydration, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and occasional hormonal breakouts.

After 8 months of religious use, here's my review:

Deliverance Soothing Trinity Serum ($69 for 1oz.)

TLDR: A potential remedy for the Retinol uglies.

The claims: Soothes irritation, plumps fine lines, and evens tone and texture.

Key ingredients: Water lily complex, encapsulated hemp, niacinamide, peptides.

At first, this serum didn't knock my socks off. But 3 months in, I started noticing a change in my texture and tone. I also started using it twice a day and pairing it with my retinol at night—this is when I really saw some changes. After hearing everyone sing prescription retinol's praises, I figured it was time to give it a go. In an effort to avoid the "retinol uglies" as some refer to this little treat of an adjustment period (here's an article from Charlotte if you're tretinoin/retinol curious) I went with the "low and slow" approach and Moisture Sandwich method. I think this serum was a huge reason I avoided a lot of irritation. In conclusion, my skin feels super soft and bouncy. I also noticed some of my dark spots from sun damage and acne scars are really starting to lighten. I will keep repurchasing this and def think it's a serum worth trying esp for sensitive skin.

Instant Angel Skin Restoring Moisturizer ($45 for 1.58 oz)

TLDR: 'Moist' isn't (always) such a bad word after all.

The claims: Deeply moisturizing & repairs skin while giving an ethereal glow.

Key ingredients: A blend of phytosterols, free fatty acids, palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, dipalmityl hydroxyproline, meadowestolide, ceramide NG, glycerin, urea, squalane and sodium PCA.

After a deepdive on hyperpigmentation I learned about "skin barrier repair," (if ever there were a 2022 beauty tagline that would be it 100P). So, I decided to break up with my twice daily exfoliation routine and try out the moisture trend. To my surprise, my skin CRAVES moisturizer. Specifically, this one. I'll admit, I've had a mild panic attack when this tube starts running low. The texture of is AH-MAZING. It's rich but lightweight and literally melts into your skin. Sometimes I apply it like a mask before bed, and by morning, I look like a dewy baby cherub. And who doesn't want that? Psychopaths. The packaging is perfect. It comes in one of those medicinal-looking recyclable aluminum tubes with a very thoughtful squeeze key to help you get every drop. And trust me, you will want it. This is truly a "wow" for me.
