Hit This Facial Bar for a Winter Refresh

Updated: Feb 7, 2019

Next time you're getting any type of beauty service—wax, blowout, haircut/color—don't just sit idly by, flipping through your magazine or phone. Ask your stylist what their favorite products are, their favorite IG follows, their best bargain buy. If you've done your homework then hopefully this person really knows their shit. Maybe it's bc I'm always asking questions or that I can't stand awkward silences, but I use appointments like a consultation. This is how I discovered the amazing boutique skin spa, The Treatment, located East of LA in Claremont and definitely worth the trip.

The Treatment just opened a facial bar located across the street from their original spa, it seats up to 4 at a time with two private esthetician rooms for more involved treatments like extractions and peels. So next time you're headed to Joshua Tree or Palm Springs for a bachelorette, Coachella or Stage Coach, pencil this into your trip.

I arrived a little early so I got to meet Megan, an absolute boss of a lady. If you follow their Instagram then you've seen her on "Monday with Megan" which is not only hilarious, it's also super informative. Her commentary is always firsthand, sometimes she's post peel or injection so she often documents her results in real time. Megan's an open book, we chatted about Accutane, peels, injectables, serums, you name it. She's incredibly candid, informative and makes you feel like no question is a stupid question. She even suggested a new skin spa at The Row in DTLA, The Things We Do, just in case a trip to Claremont isn't an option.

I visited their new facial bar and got The Treatment Signature Facial ($100), a one-hour customized facial, great if it's your first one or first time at The Treatment. My appt was with Niko, who I highly recommend, especially if you like to chat skincare. Niko has 30 years of experience as an educator, he's worked abroad for L'Oreal Professional and has even been on Oprah, so basically, I was in heaven.

For my skin concerns, we focused on exfoliation and pigmentation, because my 19 y.o. sun-loving-self didn't wear sunscreen, ugh! Niko did extractions then applied a light, exfoliating acid followed by an enzyme. Then he did an AMAZING face and neck massage followed by an insanely hydrating mask. Here were my results:

Niko also suggested Skinceuticals Discoloration Defense for sun damage. The Treatment has their own line of skincare and a cult favorite face mask that's great for all skin types. Niko says, if you struggle with oily skin or large pores this is great on your T-zone early in the morning, for 20-30 mins before you shower, it tightens pores before applying makeup. Also, it's great on dry skin once a week to keep flakes from clogging pores.
